The Tardona Hills are located in the north-eastern foreground of the Bükk Mountain. The geomorphology of the investigated ridge is very variable and well known, while the flora of the hills is far not explored. Floristical and coenological data has been collected on a 15 km long ridge of the area since 1999. The diverse plant associations of the site are rich in protected and other forest steppe species, out of which the following 24 are legally protected: Anemone sylvestris, Aster amellus, Cephalanthera damasonium, Chamaecytisus albus, Clematis integrifolia, Echium maculatum, Epipactis helleborine, Gymnadenia conopsea, Iris variegata, Lilium martagon, Linum flavum, L. hirsutum, L. tenuifolium, Orchis militaris, O. purpurea, O. ´ hybrida, O. tridentata, Ornithogalum pyramidale, Phlomis tuberosa, Platanthera bifolia, Polygala major, Prunella grandiflora, Pulsatilla grandis, Stipa pulcherrima.
