In May 2007 a flourishing population of a thermophilous orchid species, Limodorum abortivum, was found in the neighborhood of Szigetcsép. No mention of the species in the Alföld (Great Plain) region of Hungary has previously been found in neither in the relevant literature nor in herbaria, therefore this can be considered to be the first reliable report from the region. The pedunculate oak wood where the plant was found also harbors a number of other orchids: Orchis militaris, Listera ovata, Cephalanthera damasonium, Epipactis microphylla, and Epipactis cf. helleborine. Another specimen of Listera ovata was identified nearby on a floating mat fen on Csupics Island. This species has not previously been reported from this habitat.
