The determination of fossil plant macroremains in Quaternary sediments became essential in the last few years. The dominant macroremains in organic sediments (peat, mud) are the different tissues of vascular plants. The most frequent remains are the rizodermal tissue of Monocotyledons (Phragmites, Typha, Carex). After all the determination of fossil plant tissues from sediments was not popular by now because of the lack of detailed keys. This article presents keys for the determination of some 80 species based on the microscopic features of tissues.
