Floristic data were collected as well as literature and herbarial collections were reviewed concerning two areas in the Nyírség region east of Debrecen (Hajdúsámson: 2.8 km2; UTM: ET 56,57,67; CEU: 8496, Vámospércs: 2.6 km2; UTM: ET 76; CEU: 8497). Both sandy areas are characterized with inland dunes and dune slacks and are dominantly covered with dry and mesophilous grasslands. Black locust plantations and wetlands are subordinated in extension. Altogether 443 vascular species are reported out of which 271 ones are common to the two sites. Over 350 species were detected at both sites. The most interresting records involve Ophioglossum vulgatum, Carex viridula, Euphorbia epithymoides [E. polychroma], Pseudognaphalium [Gnaphalium] luteo-album, Arabis [Turritis] glabra and Trifoilum diffusum at Hajdúsámson while Equisetum fluviatile, Lathyrus latifolius, Danthonia decumbens and Peucedanum oreoselinum at Vámospércs.
