Richard Pococke (1704-1765) made two long tours in Europe and the Near East from 1733 to 1741. During his second tour, probably in 1737, he made three excursions in Hungary. He reported on his travels in his book entitled 'A Description of the East and Some other Countries' published in London in 1743-45.
