Asclepias syriaca is an alien invasive species of the Hungarian flora. The article is a chapter of a guide is in preparation for environmental conservationist. The main topics of the description of the invasive species are: Short morphological characterization and taxonomy; Life form, life cycle, generative and vegetative reproduction; Competitive and allelopathic effects, diseases, parasites, pathogens; Original area, the history of appearance and dispersal in Hungary, the actual areas under infection; Problems for nature protection (which habitats, communities are endangered?); Practical information on the control of the species (are there  vulnerable phases in the life cycle? etc.), Possible errors in the control. (Which kind of problems may be arised in relation to control?) The data of the article were collected from a great deal of literature.
