Repeated study of permanent plots is an important tool for studying recent changes and dynamics in vegetation. Repeated studies of the associations of the same areas but not at the same plot may be problematic when this method is used for detecting vegetation changes. A. Horánszky restudied some stands of the Querceto–Convallarietum forest-steppe association after 60 years of the original description in the Nyírség close to Debrecen and he found that the association has been changed dramatically. The author discusses this statement and gives a more thorough way of study on the same question.
