One of the widespread edafic associations of hornbeam-oak and beech forests belt in Börzsöny Mountains is the Luzulo-Fagetum sylvatici Meusel 1937 association. The paper presents the habitat, ecological and coenological characteristics of the association with the help of coenological relevčs made in 10 mature stands.

Most of the relevčs were made in Luzula albida, Luzula albida nudum and in one case Vaccinium–Deschampsia nudum type stands, which are widespread in the Mountains. The vascular species-set of the association is conspicuously poor, there are only 69 species in the table. Characteristic specialists are rare. Among the species of acidophilous forests the constant ones are Luzula luzuloides, Calamagrostis arundinacea, Hieracium sylvaticum and Veronica officinalis. Orthilia secunda, Vaccinium myrtillus, Deschampsia flexuosa, Sorbus aucuparia and Pyrola minor can be considered as local character species. The latter two species occurred outside the surveyed plots.
