White crocus is a perennial, cormose, geophyton plant, native to the Pyrenees, Central Europe, Croatia and Hungary. In Hungary Kőszeg is the only place where white crocus can be found. It especially widely grows in a meadow called Alsó-rét. The aim of the study is to offer an explanation for the presence of white crocus in this area by means of analyzing its microanatomical features. According to the comparative researches white crocus was carried to this region by the River Gyöngyös.
