Identification of Festuca species in the ovina group is full of problematic points. Festuca wagneri and Festuca javorkae are important grass species in the Great Hungarian Plain. Festuca javorkae is the new to the Hungarian flora. Descriptions of F. j. and F. w. are reviewed and the identification key to Hungarian species of F. ovina group is completed.
