The results of floristical research in Putnok Hills (north-east Hungary, south-west of the Aggtelek National Park) are presented and relevant floristical literature is reviewed. The Putnok (Borsod) Hills is an undulating landscape divided by valleys open to the south and to the south-west.

Records of protected species and of those ones rare locally or generally are presented. The occurence of Geum rivale L., Oenanthe banatica Heuff., Bidens frondosa L., Festuca wagneri Degen, Thaisz et Flatt, Festuca javorkae Májovský and Helictotrichon praeustum (Rchb.) Tzvelev from the eastern part of the Hungarian Mountains and the occurence of Iris aphylla L. subsp. hungarica (W. et K.) Hegi in the Putnok Hills are especially significant.  Some new localities of Pulsatilla pratensis (L.) Milletve subsp. nigricans (Störck) Zamels, Clematis integrifolia L., Cerasus fruticosa Pall., Cytisus ratisbonensis Schaeff., Trifolium dubium Sibth., Galega officinalis L., Colutea arborescens L., Hippocrepis comosa L., Bifora radians M. B., Euphorbia salicifolia Host, Veronica paniculata L., Orobanche lutea Baumg., Rapistrum perenne (L.) All., Dentaria glandulosa W. et K., Sicyos angulatus L., Artemisia pontica L., Senecio erucifolius L., Centaurea indurata Janka, Dianthus collinus W. et K., Cerastium dubium (Bast.) Guépin, Leucojum aestivum L., Orchis tridentata Scop., Orchis militaris L., Carex buekii Wimm., Brachypodium pinnatum (L.) P. B. subsp. rupestre (Host) Schübler et Martens, Ventenata dubia (Leers) Coss., Stipa dasyphylla Czern. should also be emphasized.
